From Modest Venture
to Global Producer
In 1979 Alejandro Silva and his partners began a modest pork rind business in Saltillo, Mexico — Alimentos Finos del Norte (ALFINO). That company quickly became the leading pork rind producer in Mexico and Latin America. Mr. Silva and his partners had a global vision for their company and in 1985 they parlayed their success in Latin and Central America to become the biggest producer in the world with the purchase of Evans Foods in Chicago. With supply close at hand and demand steadily on the rise, a global producer was born.
