From Modest Venture
to Global Producer
In 1979 Alejandro Silva and his partners began a modest pork rind business in Saltillo, Mexico — Alimentos Finos del Norte (ALFINO). That company quickly became the leading pork rind producer in Mexico and Latin America. Mr. Silva and his partners had a global vision for their company and in 1985 they parlayed their success in Latin and Central America to become the biggest producer in the world with the purchase of Chicago-based Evans Foods. With supply close at hand and demand steadily on the rise, a global producer was born.
